SWEEP TARGET IN LINE
Attorney General John Ashcroft, Assistant Attorney General Christopher A. Wray of the Criminal Division, Assistant FBI Director Jana Monroe and the Federal Trade Commission Chairman Timothy Muris today announced the arrests or convictions of more than 125 individuals and the return of more than 70 charges in a setting Federal coordinated operation designed to crack down on-line at the main types of economic crime.
The ongoing operation, known as Operation Cyber Sweep, was coordinated by 34 U.S. attorneys offices to the national average, the FBI, Postal Inspection Service, the FTC, the United States Secret Service and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with a variety of audiences, local and foreign, criminal prosecution authorities.
